Christian fragrance, skincare company gets national attention

Athens, TN — A "soft" launch of His Witness Scents, the largest collection of Christian fragrances and luxury skincare, was subtle when operations were tucked away in a downtown boutique in Athens.

Tribe uses native plants in spa products

Creosote bush, the fragrant, yellow-blossoming bush that covers Valley mountainsides, is a key ingredient in a new line of spa products developed by the Gila River Indian Community.

Roanoke, VA - Shopping bags in hand, women hovered over a new cosmetics counter at Macy's in Roanoke, trying on shades of pink and blue eye shadow, peering into mirrors as they applied their favorite lipstick and perching on high black chairs to experiment with different makeup blends.

High-end ingredients drive Milpitas-based beauty and bath line

Placing quality and principle above all else is what has allowed The Salt Project a Milpitas-based manufacturer and distributor of bath and body products to continue growing, according to founder and director Catina Stavroulakis.

Stavroulakis began to develop the plan for the project as a weekend endeavor while working in the aerospace industry. After losing her job to industry cutbacks after Sept. 11, 2001, she decided to put her full energy into her passion.

Working with a small collection of material in her Milpitas home, Stavroulakis began devising the formulas that became the cornerstone of The Salt Project.

"In order to craft the best (salt) scrub ever, I studied every scrub I could find," Stavroulakis said. "I went to every leading manufacturer, every drugstore manufacturer, even to farmers' markets. In every scrub I found many things I didn't like and many things it didn't have that I wanted." Read more...
