Placing quality and principle above all else is what has allowed The Salt Project a Milpitas-based manufacturer and distributor of bath and body products to continue growing, according to founder and director Catina Stavroulakis.
Stavroulakis began to develop the plan for the project as a weekend endeavor while working in the aerospace industry. After losing her job to industry cutbacks after Sept. 11, 2001, she decided to put her full energy into her passion.
Working with a small collection of material in her Milpitas home, Stavroulakis began devising the formulas that became the cornerstone of The Salt Project.
"In order to craft the best (salt) scrub ever, I studied every scrub I could find," Stavroulakis said. "I went to every leading manufacturer, every drugstore manufacturer, even to farmers' markets.
