New lunch spot opens in mall

Galesburg — There’s a new restaurant/coffeehouse in center court of Sandburg Mall, open just in time for the holiday shopping season. Starburg Coffee & Bistro is not just a Christmas season business, however. It is the mall’s newest permanent tenant.

Mall manager Beth DeJaynes said Starburg owner Josh Smith is offering a variety of foods.

“They have specialty coffee and lunch specials every day,” DeJaynes said. She said spaghetti, pulled pork and tacos are just a few of the lunch specials offered thus far. Tuna salad sandwiches also are available. Read more...

Mygofer store opens in Joliet

Joliet, IL - The first-ever Mygofer store has opened, replacing a local Kmart and starting what Sears Holding Corp. hopes to be a new type of shopping experience for its customers.

Mygofer provides a store with a range of products that include what Kmart has to offer. But customers order items by computer, phone or at the site, rather than shopping through aisles. Merchandise is picked up at the Joliet store, which also has a drive-through lane.

The store, located in the Louis Joliet Pointe shopping center just outside of the Westfield Louis Joliet mall, opened without fanfare Friday. Read more...

Craft Store To Open In Mall

Lakewood, NY - If you're looking for an inexpensive way to decorate your living room, there is a new store opening in the Chautauqua Mall that you might be interested in during your next shopping trip.

Dirt Road Kreations is a new store opening at the mall in the food court area today that will feature hand-crafted items.

Elizabeth Hollabaugh and Jodi Streich, owners, make the crafts that include shelves, benches, signs, chairs and candle holders. This will be the second business the two have opened - they also run a kennel - but the first outside of their home. Read more...

Minuteman opens mall store

Maynard, MA - Retail Marketing and Banking majors at Minuteman Regional High School in Lexington recently had the annual ribbon-cutting ceremony in honor of the 2008 grand opening of the school's student-run mall store. Special guests included Assistant Superintendent/Principal James Laverty and Athletic Director John Donato, who said, "It was an honor to be a part of the grand opening of the school store for 2008. It was my pleasure to assist in cutting the ribbon."

Bonnie Connors, a Sudbury resident, visited the store. "I was greeted by a friendly and professional group of students. I found the customer service and wide-ranging selection of gifts to be outstanding." Read more...

Cobourg woman opens store with novel concept

Even women who shop out of town for their jeans can patronize a Cobourg merchant, now that Amber Kelly's Denim Diva store has opened in the Upper Canada Mall.

Ms. Kelly's idea of a store to offer women jeans that really fit was the winner in the Ivanhoe Cambridge Retail Evolution contest, the prize for which was $150,000 to make her store a reality in an Ivanhoe mall. On July 23, Denim Diva opened its doors.

The competition is run in partnership with Ryerson University, where the Cobourg resident was a fourth-year student in the Ted Rogers School of Management's retail-management program at the time. Read more...

Pier Park announces new specialty stores

Panama City Beach -- Simon Property Group Inc., officially announced the addition of more shopping options at Pier Park.

The 900,000-square-foot retail and entertainment lifestyle center located on 93 acres covers land from Front Beach Road (at the City Pier) to U.S 98 (Back Beach Road). Pier Park is already home to nearly 100 retail stores and to six anchor stores. Read more...

Apple store opening in Glendale

Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., the Apple Store at Arrowhead, off 75th Avenue and Bell Road, makes its debut with grand-opening festivities.

With it comes visions of MacBooks, iPods, iPhones and other sleek gadgets on display and ready to demo.

It's Arizona's fifth Apple Store, and the first in the West Valley.
