Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet opens in Cherry Hill

by Press Release

Cherry Hill, NJ—Dr. Siegal's Direct Nutritionals, LLC, the worldwide distributor of Dr. Siegal's® COOKIE DIET™ weight loss system and hunger-controlling cookies, shakes and other products, and operator of CookieDiet.com, today announced that on May 1st, it will open a non-medical retail outlet at Cherry Hill Mall in the Philadelphia suburb of Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Dr. Sanford Siegal, the Miami obesity expert who conceived his popular six-cookies-a-day weight loss system in 1975, will attend a grand opening event on Saturday, May 3, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The first non-medical retail Dr. Siegal's® COOKIE DIET™ location opened at Moorestown Mall, located about three miles from Cherry Hill Mall, in August 2007. That location will be closed on April 30th and its employees transferred to the new Cherry Hill Mall location.

"We've been anxiously awaiting the opening of our Cherry Hill Mall store for nearly a year. When the mall announced its $500 million facelift and the future opening of Nordstrom, Crate & Barrel and the Container Store, we knew that Dr. Siegal's® COOKIE DIET™ had to be there too," said Matthew Siegal, President and CEO of Dr. Siegal's Direct Nutritionals, LLC. "When the remodeling is completed later this year, Cherry Hill Mall will be the premier shopping destination in the region."

Dr. Siegal's program features his hunger-suppressing cookies, shakes and soup which contain his secret blend of certain amino acids, the basic components of food proteins. He conceived the idea of a cookie-based diet in the early 1970's while writing a book on food substances that suppress hunger without drugs. In 1975, after years of experimentation on family and friends, he perfected his proprietary formula and baked it into a cookie. Acceptance by his patients was immediate and soon Dr. Siegal's® COOKIE DIET™ was the exclusive approach to weight loss at Siegal Medical Group. More than 200 other doctors have used Dr. Siegal's® COOKIE DIET™ hunger-controlling cookies, shakes and soup in their own practices.

Dr. Siegal encourages anyone who is considering following a reduced-calorie diet to do so under their own doctor's supervision rather than relying on a franchised diet center doctor or nurse.

"Obesity poses serious health risks. You wouldn't allow some unknown storefront clinic to treat you for other serious conditions so why would you trust them to monitor your weight loss?" said Dr. Siegal.

Dr. Siegal is frequently profiled in the news media. Last week, Good Evening Arizona on KTVK-TV in Phoenix aired an interview with Dr. Siegal and Warren Thompson, a college student who lost 73 lbs. For several days after it aired, the segment ranked among the Top 5 Most Popular Stories on the station's web site, azfamily.com.

"The reason that Dr. Siegal's® COOKIE DIET™ has been so popular for so many years is that my cookies and other foods control hunger like no others. In fact, I know of no other food products that are specifically engineered to suppress hunger," said Dr. Siegal. "In recent years, others have tried to capitalize on our success by introducing copy-cat products. Anyone who has used the real Dr. Siegal's® COOKIE DIET™ foods and the knockoffs will tell you that the fake ones don't control hunger as well."

The Philadelphia area was among the first in the nation where people could obtain Dr. Siegal's cookies without having to travel to South Florida to be his patient. After nearly five years of availability in the region, Dr. Siegal's one-meal-a-day, cookie-based diet concept has acquired a significant following.

"There are thousands of people in South Jersey and the Philadelphia area who have used the real Dr. Siegal's® COOKIE DIET® products, either as customers of our CookieDiet.com web site, our Moorestown Mall kiosk, or franchised weight management centers to whom I used to license my name, weight loss system, and cookies, shakes and soup," added Dr. Siegal. "I'm looking forward to meeting our customers at the Cherry Hill Mall grand opening."

Dr. Siegal's® COOKIE DIET™ hunger-controlling foods and nutritional supplements are available online at www.CookieDiet.com; by phone 24/7 at 866-464-5595 toll-free; and from select doctors, drug stores and retailers. They're also available at Dr. Siegal's® COOKIE DIET™ kiosks in Paradise Valley Mall, Chandler Fashion Center, and Scottsdale Fashion Square in Phoenix, AZ; Boca Raton Town Center Mall in Boca Raton, FL; Dadeland Mall in Miami, FL; The Galleria Mall in Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Moorestown Mall near the Philadelphia suburb of Moorestown, NJ.
