The factory outlet shopping center being built at Interstate 10 and Trans Mountain on the West Side is "on track" to meet its Oct. 11 opening date and has signed 11 new tenants, a spokeswoman for the developer said Monday.
The center has also changed its name for the second time, this time to The Outlet Shoppes at El Paso, said Gina Slechta, marketing director for Horizon Group Properties near Chicago.
"This time, it's rock solid," she said.
Originally, the name was Sun Valley Factory Shoppes, but Horizon felt "factory shoppes" didn't translate well into Spanish, Slechta said. That name was then changed to Sun Valley Outlet Center, which has since been switched to match some retail properties that Horizon is planning to buy.
"We're purchasing several (outlet) centers across the nation, and we want them to have the same type of name," Slechta said. "Ideally, all our centers will be known as 'outlet shoppes' and then the name of the location."
